I love NZ!

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

So, as most of you already likely know, last week I was holidaying in New Zealand. Mostly, I went cause I needed to get a new visa and I had to leave the country to do it. But, any excuse for travel and a vacation will do! I spent most of my time in Auckland, NZ's biggest city, but it felt mostly like a really large town. I also went to the bay of islands and Rotorua but I'll tell you more about those places later. Cause I have so many pictures I think i'm gonna split this, NZ post by city.

Auckland, City of Sails

Here's a bit of Auckland...

Auckland city and the sky tower at night, as taken from the balcony of Mayuko's apartment...she has a great view!

Hamish, Mayuko and I playing shadows at the harbour front.

Hamish with Auckland city by day in the background, for those of you who know him, he hasn't changed a bit! (take that as you will :)

Didn't even have to drive out to the countryside to see these guys, five mins out of the city, and there they were!

Hamish and Mayuko...enjoying the city of sails...

NZ was created cause lots of volcanoes errupted...the fun part about that is that there are so many gorgeous mountains. Behind me rangitoto one of the volcanic islands in the Haruaki Gulf.

Auckland is apparently the 2nd largest city in the world, but only for the amount of land it uses...the residents can take full advantage and have big houses and yards since not that many people live there! This does also mean there are lots of gorgeous green spaces in the city.

One of the highlights of my trip had to be seeing Varkekai by Cirque du Soleil...This is the third show of thiers I have seen, and it still amazes me! They are coming to Melbourne next and I am considering seeing them again!
