Well, I've done it...somehow i convinced the Uni of Melbourne kids that they should let me go to thier school, so on Feb 20, 2006 I shall officially start working on my Education Degree....yay me! So, provided I can find, borrow, beg and steal alot of money by next year, i'm off to OZ! Yay yay yay!

TTC (Toronto Subway) announcement of the day after the doors try to close 3 times before succeeding..."Please do not push your children into closing doors. Thank you.". Gotta wonder how some people get to be parents and keep thier kids all at the same time!

So, came back from Japan, thought that i liked people work, but wanted a change from teaching...just to try something new...applied for all sorts of jobs, pretty much almost anything and everything. Nothing, no luck, no jobs for me...so, i thought ok, i'll just put in my resume for a few teaching jobs, things that i didn't even have the technical qualifications they were asking for. But, somehow, less than 2 weeks later I now have a job and a few potential side jobs...funny how it works.
So, my next question is do we really chose our jobs or do they just somehow chose us? I mean maybe this is none of my doing...maybe the only field that really is hiring is education...however there really don't seem to be that many education jobs around. But ya...so, try as i might to change it, if i wanna work apparently teaching is what i get to do, good thing i like it...

So, this is the table i have been working on...not quite half done it yet...there is a bottom level that i haven't even started and i still have to do a little deatiling on the top part. It's all made out of painted glass. The paints are baked on to mirror making them pretty much indestructable then i cut the glass into small pieces and play. I'm quite liking it, after this table I have another piece to do, not sure what kind of pattern/design i'm gonna do on it yet though.

This guy was in our yard a couple of weeks ago...it was garbage day the next week, but once we (my father, neighbours and i) were out there he was too scared to climb out of his tree...good for pictures for me! Smart little creature he is...apparently the raccoons in Toronto migrate across the city during the week...they know which area has garbage day each day and so follow thier noses for more food...smarties!

The New Fish

So, this is my new pet fish.
My sister kindly warned me before i got it, "Christie, i dont think this is a good idea. You need a tank and filter and stuff. It's gonna die you know" and the guys at the pet store seemed a little sceptical also...they didn't really want to sell me the plant, and wanted me to buy a fighting fish. Anyhow, i've had this fish for about 2 weeks now and all is well, despite thier doubts.
Currently working on finding him/her (not really sure which it is) a name. Can't really think of a name for a fish that beats Lorax...although, the current winner this time round is Sakana. But, as i found out, the actual word for goldfish in japanese is kingyo...but it doesn't sound as fun as sakana...still thinking on it anyhow....if you have any ideas let me know...

Multilingual....

The other day, sitting on the train on my way home from the city in the early evening. The seats were in groups of 4, listening to the conversations in the 5 groups around me...one was french (quebecois), portugues, engish from around here, and another english from England and the last was japanese...i could even understand a little but couldn't hear them very well! Interesting...gotta love being able to hear so many languages all at once...
